Grand Prize Winner Ms. Clariselle Merino – from Manhattan ( Martin
Luther King H..S. for Law ) won $500 sponsored by Fidelis Care of New York, and her essay is on display at the Bronx
Museum of Arts from April 24th, 2010 to Aug, 2010.
Runner –up winner Ms. Johanel Caceres – from Bronx
(Flags H.S.) She won $`100 from United Coalition Association.
Runner –up winner Ms. Shanna Williamson –
from Bronx (Flags H.S.) she won $100 from United Coalition Association.
All winners also received Awards from
NYC Public Advocate Bill De Blasio, Bronx Democratic Party Chairman Assemblyman Carl Heastie, and New York State Assembly
Citations from Assemblyman Speaker Pro Tempore Peter Rivera, Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson, Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, and
a City Council Citation from City Councilmember Annabel Palma. The Ceremony was opened up by Ms. Beverly Roberts – President
of the Parkchester Branch of the NAACP, and hosted by: Mrs. Theresa Hedrington - United Coalition Association Program
Coordinator.
