529 College Savings Program. New York State offers 529 plans, programs that provide a flexible, convenient and low-cost way to save for college. The program features a wide range of investment choices, tax-free withdrawals when used for qualified higher-education expenses and contributions that are state-tax deductible up to $5,000 annually for individuals and $10,000 for jointly filing New York State residents.

The theme of the NYS College Fair Day is, “The Importance of Staying In School”.  As you are well aware, the percentage of Latino and African American students dropping out of high school is alarming.  As a result, we are urging people in the Latino and African American communities to help us take a stance and educate the many families who are unaware of the resources available for their children to obtain a College Education.
