Mission and History United Coalition Association is a 501(c)3 non profit organization whose
mission is to fight against juvenile delinquency and counter act negative behavior exhibit by youth of today. We provide educational
seminars and forums which speak about life choices by exploring various topics our youth face on a regular basis. Through
workshop sessions, field trips, educational fairs, etc. We are able to give the youth a new sense of hope
for their future, community, family and friends.
In February of 2005, United Coalition was birth out of a community newsletter
that sparked the determination of Executive Director Mr. Ronald Savage, (a Board Member and Co – Chairman of the Communications
/ Public Relation Sub-Committee for Bronx Community Board #9) to form this non profit organization .
United Coalition has been a moving force in various projects such as providing safe haven
in public playgrounds, health fairs, resources for senior citizens, youth forums, mobile post offices outreach and more.
We believe the youth of today should stand proud & don’t add to the drop out rate.
Service Gaps and Project Plan
Today’s generation has to deal with a host of service gaps that is evident in the high
dropout rate, gang activity, and school violence. United Coalition Association aims to provide the services
and programs that are needed but at the same time making it appealing to its targeted audience (i.e. at risk teens, disconnected
youths, and troubled youths). Through the direct involvement of the youths that we service we create and
coordinate the programs and events that are hosted under our organization. Through a successful partnership
with Community Board 9’s Bronx Youth Council we aim to bring all the necessary, but at the same time wanted and welcomed
resources.
Impact
United Coalition Association does not set expectations on today’s youth.
Instead it sets high expectations on its core programs to be the guiding forces in helping youths make the right choices.
By providing information on educational and career opportunities we hope that the youth make the right choices.
Accessibility to educational and career opportunities is the first step that must be taken to help individuals make
and come to the right life style choice.
Currently, United Coalition Association
through its “The Key To Success Program” provides educational workshop like with the Red Cross on CPR Training
for our youth in our program. We also do Anti-Gang Work Shops for our youth in the program. These workshops keep youth
& young parents off the street and into an educational surrounding.
Collaborations
Through successful
partnerships we have been able to gain access to the elected officials, regional board of education, and parent teacher coordinators.
As a result, United Coalition has been able to partner up with these organizations/ agencies to develop and host interesting
events that are appealing to our targeted audience. In coordination with the Office of Council Member Annabel
Palma, State Assemblyman Peter Rivera, Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr, we host the offical Bronx Annual
College Fair. The college fair is distinctive in the way that it was planned and developed by youths for
youths. The college fair will have live music, performance, essay contest, and giveaways. The
annual college fair gives youths thinking and needing that extra push to start applying for college to do so at the
venue.
Moving forward, United Coalition Association in partnership with the local elected officials and due to the funding
allocation through the “Anti-Gang Violence Initiative” will be expanding its core programs and creating new partnerships.
We are currently in talks with various record executives to create a formal relationship to provide our youths with
the opportunity to experience the profession through a mentorship program.
Training
Like
previously mentioned, it is very important to provide our youths the opportunity to make smart and educated choices.
Ultimately, they will be making the choice of what lifestyle to pursue and live.
