Development, a Board Member & Chairman of the Youth Committee for Bronx Community Board 9.
In February of 2005, United Coalition Association was birth out of a community newsletter Mr. Savage started
that addressed community issues that received little to no attention from various entities. During his years of service, he
has made great strides in the Bronx communities. Some of his accomplishments include providing a safe entrance into Noble
Playground, whose only entrances were located on the side of a highway, trash cans were placed on blocks that were in dire
need of them, a Mobile Postal Unit was available in an area where the local postal offices was quite a distance to get to,
especially for the senior citizens and petition for speed bumps in school zones just to name a few. A personal goal of Mr.
Savage's to have a building in the community for UCAI to be able to continue the work it started. Part of UCAI's mission statement
is to have a voice on local and national governmental issues.
The United Coalition Association has taken
steps to fight against the alarming number of youth dropouts; by hosting the Official Bronx College Fairs which are designed
to inspire our youth by showing them the value of an education and equipping our students with the means to obtain a high
quality education that will enable them to become successful adults. The Key to Success
Program is a youth leadership skills program to help equip our youth for the future. This program is an effort to fight against
juvenile delinquency and to mold our youth into productive individuals. We work with ''at-risk' young people (ages 12-19)
who receive youth leadership development. Our young people also receive production creation with the aim of creating a successful
anti-gang violence /anti-drug public service announcements. Our slogan is, “The key to success is knowing the importance
of staying in school.” We have a PSA, forums and interviews to help us in getting the message across that there are
choices in life! The most recent PSA is called PICK UP YOUR PANT’S. This talks about how our youth are misguided by
the negative images on the rap videos of seeing rapper’s wearing their pants below their butt. Mr. Savage is stepping
up to the plate in making sure this style is banned. Quoted: The theme of our college fair day is, "The Importance
of Staying in School". As you are well aware, the percentage of Latino and African American students dropping out
of high school is alarming. As a result, we are urging people in the Latino and African American communities to help us take
a stance and educate the many families who are unaware of the resources available for their children to obtain a College Education.”
In 2008 Mr. Ronald Savage was elected as the vice president of Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera’s Community Democratic
Club for the 76 Assembly District. He has been a strong voice for the 76 Assembly District. Ron was one of the people to help
in Assemblyman Peter M. Rivers 2009 campaign in getting the Assemblyman re-elected. As V.P- Ron Savage makes sure the 76AD
is strong politically in his district. In 2008 Mr. Savage was elected to the New York State Democratic Committee.
Ron Savage has only been in politics for 5 years, and is making his mark in history.
